For our June meeting, the SWFL Magicians hosted the Resident Magician at the Boca Raton Resort: Randy Goodman!
Randy’s lecture featured a delightful combination of impossible mind reading presented in a fun and engaging manner. The mind reading fooled the magi and still played well to the children in the audience! That’s no small feat. Mentalism tends to be presented in an all-too-serious manner that disenfranchises much of the audience. We can’t all be Max Maven! The secret was no secret at all. It was all due to some simple and fooling methods combined with Randy’s wonderful personality. To add some fun to the performance portion, we had several members of the VFW in the audience. Attendees got witness first-hand how the material plays for real people.
Randy performed and then carefully explained:

Name Game – The most incredible “name a card” effect you’ve ever seen!
Finale Deck – The ultimate ending to your favorite card reveal trick.
TIC-TAC-PerfecTOE – A simple game becomes a first-rate mentalism effect.
Dream Square – An impossible, yet easy, version of the Magic Square.
and Bad News Psychic – Miraskill was never so funny!
As advertised, all the effects were easy to master, packed small, and played big. What more could you ask for?
Afterwards the bulk of the club retreated to our local Hooters to amaze the waitstaff and make some chicken wings disappear!
